HOW ARE YOU HANDLING COVID 19?

Cookie Doughrk Bakery started during the pandemic and will remain in business throughout COVID 19. The level of cleanliness and sanitation during the pandemic will not change...because I already maintain high standards in these areas! I am fully vaccinated and will continue with any future boosters when/if they become available. For porch pick ups, I encourage contactless delivery through communication with me to ensure the safety of my customers as well as for myself.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I work from my home in San Tan Valley, AZ (crossroads: Gary Rd & Hunt Highway). I know STV is a bit of a journey for some so I do offer the option to meet in the middle or deliver within 30 miles of 85143 for a fee.

HOW MUCH ARE YOUR COOKIES?

My current rate is $4.50 per cookie with a two dozen minimum. Advanced techniques such as characters, logos, watercolor, etc. are an added cost. I also offer mini cookies at $2.50 each with a 3 dozen minimum or 6 for $12 when added onto a dozen standard size cookies. Standard sized cookies are 3.5 - 4 inches at the longest side and minis are 2 - 2.5 inches long. I know price is often a major concern, so if you have a budget you need to stay within, let me know so we can design the perfect set of cookies for you!

WHY ARE DECORATED COOKIES SO EXPENSIVE?

Great question and I totally get it!  Seeing the value of handmade, custom cookies can be difficult, but hopefully understanding what goes into the process will help you appreciate the value even more.  Here's a quick walkthrough of what goes into the custom cookie decorating process:

• Details & Design - It's important to me that the cookies are made specifically for the person/people receiving them so I spend as much time as necessary to understand as much as possible about the person and/or event.  This helps me to create designs that will really wow you! Once I know the general concepts of the cookies, I decide on color scheme, sketch out each cookie, and often design and 3D print custom cookie cutters just for your cookies.  I also plan out the icing by weight for each cookie which can take an hour or more to do for complex designs.

• Dough & Icing - I make all the dough and icing from quality ingredients such as European butter and Madagascar vanilla. This process includes mixing, rolling, chilling, cutting out the dough, and baking. Next comes the icing...and in all honesty, this is my least favorite part of the entire process.  The icing is mixed, then colored to match your color scheme and thinned to the correct consistencies to create the cookie masterpieces. This process often takes 1-2 hours!

• Decorate - Now comes the fun part! Decorating a set of custom cookies can easily take anywhere from 4-10 hours depending on the complexity of the design. Some cookies have one to two steps with drying time in between, while others can have 4 or more steps.  This is the part that I take the most time on because I truly want you to fall in love with the cookies when you see them.

• Delivery - I want your cookies to both taste and look delicious when you receive them.  I heat seal each cookie in cellophane bags for freshness, lay them on paper shred in a sturdy bakery box, place a Cookie Doughrk sticker on the box, and wrap it all up with a bow that coordinates with your order.

CAN I FREEZE MY COOKIES?

Yes...and surprisingly, I've found the cookies taste even better after freezing! To avoid distorting the artwork on your cookie, I recommend placing the cookies (ideally still sealed in the individual bags) in an airtight container then putting them in the freezer.  When you're ready to enjoy, take the container out of the freezer and place it on the counter allowing it to come to room temperature before opening the lid.  This allows the cookies to defrost without forming condensation inside the bag which could ruin the look or your cookies. Cookies stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months.

DO YOU SHIP YOUR COOKIES?

Cookie Doughrk Bakery operates under the Arizona Cottage Law which states that it is illegal for me to ship outside of the state.  However, I can create the cookies for you and even package them for shipping then deliver them to you to complete the shipping process. As we continue to grow, we may move to a commercial kitchen that would then allow us to ship outside of the state.

DO YOU HAVE AN ORDER MINIMUM?

Yes, the order minimum for custom cookies is one dozen. If you are interested in smaller cookie sets be sure to follow Cookie Doughrk on Instagram and Facebook for notices of Flash Sales, Giveaways, and Holiday Pre-sales, where I offer opportunities to purchase smaller sets and individual cookies throughout the year.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO MAKE AN ORDER?

At the latest, I recommend contacting me 2-3 weeks before your event date to get your order "on the books". Around the holidays, I often need more lead time, but it never hurts to ask about a last minute order to see if I can accommodate you.  I do also offer the option to tentatively reserve a spot as far out as a year in advance by filling out the Pencil Me In form.  This does not commit you to ordering cookies, but lets me know you might be interested and then I will check in with you a month before your event to see if you want to place an order.
